SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Working alongside class teachers and inclusion staff, SEND Teaching Assistants support pupils with additional needs. The focus is on providing tailored academic and emotional support, adapting tasks where needed, and helping pupils feel secure and confident in the classroom. Strong communication, patience, and consistency are essential, alongside a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.

Supports pupils with SEND in lessons and structured interventions.
Works closely with teachers to adapt learning activities.
Promotes confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
Maintains safeguarding, care, and wellbeing standards.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • It is preferred to have prior experience supporting students with SEND. 

  • To ensure the safety and security of our students, an enhanced DBS check is required. Any relevant teaching or education qualifications will be an advantage.

Our partnered SEND school, which takes care of Early years, KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 + KS5 is a good rated school. OFSTED most recently reported that pupils are 'very well cared for', and that the school is a 'calm and welcoming place'.

The teachers are skilled at helping pupils being able to manage their own behavioural challenges, and are able to expertly and pleasantly handle any challenging behaviour themselves.
