Job Description
Working alongside class teachers and inclusion staff, SEND Teaching Assistants support pupils with additional needs. The focus is on providing tailored academic and emotional support, adapting tasks where needed, and helping pupils feel secure and confident in the classroom. Strong communication, patience, and consistency are essential, alongside a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
Supports pupils with SEND in lessons and structured interventions.
Works closely with teachers to adapt learning activities.
Promotes confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
Maintains safeguarding, care, and wellbeing standards.
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Experience working in SEND, specialist provisions or with pupils who have autism or SEMH needs.
A calm, thoughtful and responsive approach to communication and behaviour.
Understanding of sensory needs, AAC tools or visual supports (PECS, symbols, timetables).
Adaptable, reliable and able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
