Job Description
Working alongside class teachers and inclusion staff, SEND Teaching Assistants support pupils with additional needs. The focus is on providing tailored academic and emotional support, adapting tasks where needed, and helping pupils feel secure and confident in the classroom. Strong communication, patience, and consistency are essential, alongside a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
Supports pupils with SEND in lessons and structured interventions.
Works closely with teachers to adapt learning activities.
Promotes confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
Maintains safeguarding, care, and wellbeing standards.
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with ASC and complex needs
Support emotional regulation and help pupils manage challenging behaviours
Work alongside the class teacher to deliver tailored learning activities
Promote a safe, structured and positive learning environment
Maintain consistent routines and strategies to support student development
Previous experience supporting children with ASC, complex needs, or behavioural challenges
Ability to remain calm and responsive in high-pressure situations
Strong interpersonal skills, with a caring and patient attitude
A clear understanding of safeguarding and SEND support strategies
