Job Description
A supportive Secondary school in Oxfordshire is seeking a Pastoral Mentor to work closely with pupils who need additional emotional guidance to remain engaged with learning. You’ll support students whose wellbeing, confidence, or behaviour may be affecting their ability to participate consistently in lessons.
Your role will include regular pastoral check-ins, supporting pupils during challenging moments, and helping them reflect and reset following difficulties. Some pupils may struggle with anxiety or peer relationships; others benefit from having a trusted adult who can help them process emotions and navigate expectations calmly.
Working alongside pastoral leads, tutors, and teaching staff, you’ll contribute to a joined-up approach that supports pupils holistically. This role suits someone empathetic, reliable, and confident building relationships that help young people feel understood and supported.

Support pupils during periods of difficulty or dysregulation.
Facilitate calm conversations and reflective check-ins.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

Calm, empathetic communication style.
Confidence handling sensitive conversations appropriately.
