Job Description

A supportive Secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a Student Support Assistant to work with pupils who need additional guidance managing the academic and emotional demands of school life. You’ll support students whose engagement may be affected by confidence, organisation, or wellbeing challenges, helping them stay connected to learning throughout the day.

Your role will include providing in-class support, helping pupils organise work, and offering calm reassurance during moments of difficulty. Some students may struggle with independence or sustained focus; others benefit from having expectations clarified and tasks broken into manageable steps. You’ll act as a steady presence, helping pupils re-engage without pressure.

Working closely with teachers, tutors, and pastoral staff, you’ll help deliver consistent support strategies that promote independence and resilience. This role suits someone calm, reliable, and motivated by helping young people navigate school with confidence.
