Job Description

A welcoming Primary school in Coventry is seeking a KS1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils as they build early literacy, numeracy, and classroom confidence. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to support children who benefit from clear routines, patient guidance, and consistent adult reassurance throughout the school day.

Your role will include providing in-class support, assisting with phonics and early maths activities, and helping pupils manage transitions between lessons. Some children may need encouragement to stay focused or to begin tasks independently; others benefit from learning being broken down into manageable steps. You’ll support learning in a calm, nurturing way that helps pupils feel safe and capable.

Working alongside the wider staff team, you’ll help create a positive classroom environment where pupils feel supported to participate, practise new skills, and grow in confidence at their own pace.

Support KS1 pupils during lessons and activities.
Assist with phonics. early reading. and numeracy.
Support routines. transitions. and positive behaviour.
Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Experience supporting KS1 or early Primary pupils.

  • Warm. patient communication style.

  • Confidence supporting early literacy and numeracy.

  • Strong safeguarding awareness and consistent practice
