Job Description
A specialist SEND school in Worcestershire is seeking a Behaviour & Engagement Manager to lead on behaviour strategy, pupil engagement systems, and whole-school relational practice. You’ll oversee pupils who require structured, consistent support to regulate, reconnect, and participate positively in their learning environment.
Your role will involve guiding staff in behaviour approaches, reviewing pupil behaviour plans, coordinating targeted interventions, and supporting the de-escalation and reintegration processes. You’ll also help develop school-wide systems that are fair, predictable, and sensitive to the needs of pupils with communication differences, sensory needs, and emotional regulation challenges.
This role suits someone confident in leading behaviour strategy, skilled in restorative and trauma-informed practice, and able to communicate clearly with families and external agencies.
Lead behaviour strategy and whole-school relational approaches.
Review, update, and monitor pupil behaviour plans.
Coordinate interventions, de-escalation, and reintegration processes.
Coach staff in behaviour management and pupil engagement.
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Strong experience in behaviour leadership or pastoral management.
Deep understanding of SEND, trauma-informed practice, and de-escalation.
Confident, steady communication style.
Strong safeguarding awareness and accurate record-keeping.
About the School
Located in Worcestershire (WR2), this SEND school holds a solid Ofsted Good rating and is recognised for its structured, empathetic approach to behaviour and engagement. Staff work collectively to ensure that behaviour support is relational, predictable, and underpinned by a deep understanding of pupil need.
The environment is calm, sensory-aware, and designed to reduce overwhelm for pupils with varied learning profiles. Behaviour systems prioritise connection over consequence, and staff receive ongoing training in de-escalation, trauma-informed responses, and emotional regulation strategies.
Leadership values openness, clarity, and long-term planning. They invest in staff development and work closely with families to maintain strong communication and consistent expectations. This is an excellent role for someone who wants to drive impactful, child-centred behaviour practice.
