Job Description

We’re searching for a SEND Mentor to join a nurturing and forward-thinking SEND provision in Birmingham. This is an opportunity to be part of a specialist team supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, and complex learning needs. You’ll work closely with individual students and small groups, helping them build emotional regulation, communication skills, and confidence in learning. Your calm energy, adaptability, and genuine care will make you a trusted presence in the classroom — someone pupils rely on to help them navigate challenges and celebrate progress. The role requires emotional intelligence and curiosity more than formal teaching experience; the school provides full guidance and training for the right person. Each day will bring variety — from sensory-based activities to targeted learning interventions — but what remains constant is the difference you’ll make.

Job Responsibilities:
Support pupils with diverse SEND needs in 1:1 and small group sessions
Encourage positive engagement and self-regulation using tailored strategies
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to maintain consistent support plans
Create safe, structured environments that promote calm and confidence

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience working with SEND pupils (school, care, or youth setting)
Understanding of autism and sensory processing differences
Patient, adaptable, and emotionally resilient approach
Strong teamwork and communication skills

About the School

This Birmingham-based special school, rated Good by Ofsted, offers a structured yet creative learning environment for pupils aged 6–16 with complex SEND needs.
