Job Description
A structured Secondary school in Oxfordshire is seeking a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work alongside teaching staff supporting pupils whose behaviour can act as a barrier to learning. You’ll support students who benefit from clear expectations, consistent routines, and calm adult guidance within the classroom.
Your role will include providing in-class support, offering calm redirection, and helping pupils re-engage with learning following moments of dysregulation. Some pupils may struggle with impulse control or emotional regulation; others benefit from having behaviour expectations reinforced in a supportive, measured way. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to maintain learning momentum while supporting positive behaviour choices.
As part of the wider teaching and pastoral team, you’ll help create a classroom environment where behaviour support is proactive, respectful, and focused on long-term progress. This role suits someone confident, steady, and skilled at balancing behavioural support with learning delivery.
Provide in-class behaviour support during lessons.
Support pupils with regulation and refocusing strategies.
Reinforce classroom routines and expectations.
Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff.
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Experience supporting pupils with behaviour needs.
Calm, confident communication style.
Ability to remain composed during challenging moments.
Strong safeguarding awareness and consistent practice.

The environment is structured, respectful, and well suited to someone who values clarity, consistency, and positive classroom culture.
