Job Description
A forward-thinking Secondary school in Coventry is seeking an Attendance Officer to play a key role in supporting pupils whose attendance or punctuality is affecting their learning and wellbeing. You’ll support students who may face emotional, organisational, or practical barriers to attending school consistently.
Your role will include monitoring attendance patterns, contacting families, and working directly with pupils to understand and address underlying challenges. Some pupils need reassurance and structure; others benefit from clear expectations and consistent follow-up. You’ll help ensure interventions feel supportive rather than punitive, encouraging pupils to re-engage with school positively.
As part of the pastoral and safeguarding team, you’ll help deliver a whole-school approach to attendance that prioritises wellbeing and early intervention. This role suits someone organised, empathetic, and confident handling sensitive situations with clarity and care.
Monitor attendance and punctuality data.
Contact families regarding attendance concerns.
Support pupils returning after absence or difficulty.
Work collaboratively with pastoral and safeguarding teams.
