Job Description

A specialist educational setting in Coventry is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to support young people with additional needs as they develop the skills, confidence, and independence required for adult life.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about person-centred support and understands the importance of helping learners achieve their individual goals. Working closely with teachers and support teams, you will play a vital role in creating meaningful learning experiences that prepare learners for life beyond education.

Key Responsibilities
Provide a coherent and integrated support structure that meets the needs of individual learners
Act as a positive role model, reinforcing communication, social, and independence skills
Support learners to become as independent as possible
Work closely with teachers to deliver a person-centred learning experience
Assist with the planning and delivery of personalised learning activities
Deliver structured independence and enrichment activities
Provide one-to-one and small group support under the direction of teachers and team leaders
Build constructive relationships with learners and their families
Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Advocate for learners and encourage effective communication at all times
Assist in preparing resources and materials to support learning programmes
Provide personal care, including toileting and feeding, where required

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with SEND needs

  • Understanding of person-centred support approaches

  • Ability to support learners with independence, communication, and life skills

  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Willingness to provide personal care when required

  • Commitment to safeguarding and learner wellbeing

  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
