Job Description
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Salford Priors, Warwickshire is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team.
Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, you'll provide tailored support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence, and flourish within a nurturing classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEND
Adapt learning activities to meet individual learning needs
Build a positive, trusting relationship that promotes confidence and engagement
Use trauma-informed practice to support emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
Encourage independence and active participation in learning
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, parents, and external professionals
Monitor pupil progress and contribute to support plans
Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Previous experience supporting children with SEND
Classroom experience within a primary or specialist setting
Understanding of trauma-informed practice
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
Passion for supporting children with additional needs
DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
Knowledge of a range of SEND needs
Calm, nurturing, and empathetic approach
Strong behaviour management skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
