Job Description

A school in Birmingham is seeking a committed 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to work closely with pupils who require emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day. This role is ideal for someone calm, resilient, and confident working with pupils who may face barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH needs
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning
Work closely with teachers, SEND staff, and pastoral teams

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Patient, adaptable, and resilient approach

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
