Job Description

A nurturing Primary school in Oxfordshire is seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant to support children as they build the foundations of communication, play, and early learning. You’ll work with pupils who benefit from predictable routines, gentle reassurance, and thoughtful guidance throughout the EYFS day.

Your role will include supporting child-led play, structured group sessions, early literacy activities, and transitions between learning areas. Some children may need help with separation confidence or following routines; others benefit from modelling, visual cues, and calm encouragement to engage and explore. You’ll help create a warm, inviting Early Years environment where pupils feel safe, seen, and ready to learn.

Working closely with the class teacher and wider EYFS team, you’ll contribute to a child-centred setting that celebrates curiosity, exploration, and emotional development. This role suits someone patient, playful, and naturally comforting around young children.

Support children during EYFS activities and daily routines.
Assist with early numeracy, phonics, and communication.
Encourage positive play, turn-taking, and social skills.
Work collaboratively with EYFS teachers and support staff.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children in Early Years or similar settings.

  • Warm, nurturing communication style.

  • Confidence supporting early development and structured play.

  • Strong safeguarding awareness and consistent practice.
