Job Description

A friendly Primary school in Birmingham South is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the classroom during daily lessons and routines. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to help children stay focused, confident, and ready to learn.

Your role will include providing in-class support, helping pupils understand tasks, and offering reassurance during moments when learning feels challenging. Some children may need guidance to start work independently; others benefit from having learning broken into clear, manageable steps. You’ll contribute to maintaining a calm, organised classroom environment where every pupil can take part at their own pace.

This role suits someone patient, observant, and committed to supporting primary-aged pupils as they grow academically and emotionally.

Support pupils during lessons and group activities.
Assist with reading, writing, and numeracy tasks.
Support classroom routines and transitions.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider staff team.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Primary-aged pupils.

  • Clear, supportive communication style.

  • Confidence assisting with core subject activities.

  • Strong safeguarding awareness and consistent practice.
