Job Description

A school in Coventry is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Advisor to support pupils' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and personal development. This role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships, provide guidance during challenging situations, and help pupils overcome barriers that may affect their education.

Working closely with pupils, families, teachers, and external agencies, you'll play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities
Provide pastoral support to pupils across the school
Support behaviour management and emotional wellbeing
Build positive relationships with pupils and families
Work alongside teaching staff to identify and address barriers to learning
Monitor attendance, engagement, and welfare concerns
Liaise with external agencies and support services where appropriate
Contribute to safeguarding and pupil support processes

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people

  • Strong understanding of behaviour, wellbeing, and pastoral support

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

  • Experience within education, youth work, mentoring, or support services desirable

  • Strong safeguarding awareness

  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
