Job Description
A well-organised Secondary school in Birmingham is seeking an Attendance Support Officer to play a key role in improving pupil attendance and punctuality. You’ll work with pupils whose attendance may be affected by anxiety, disengagement, family circumstances, or difficulties maintaining routine.
Your role will involve monitoring attendance data, identifying patterns early, and working directly with pupils to understand barriers to attendance. You’ll provide structured check-ins, support reintegration after absence, and liaise closely with pastoral staff to ensure pupils feel supported rather than penalised.
You’ll also communicate with families where appropriate, helping reinforce expectations while offering guidance and reassurance. Working as part of the wider pastoral and safeguarding team, you’ll contribute to a whole-school approach where attendance is viewed as a wellbeing and inclusion priority. This role suits someone organised, empathetic, and confident handling sensitive conversations with clarity and professionalism.

Communicate with families regarding attendance concerns.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

Strong safeguarding awareness and consistent practice.
