Job Description
A supportive Secondary school in Oxfordshire is seeking a Student Support Assistant to work with pupils who benefit from additional guidance navigating the academic and emotional demands of school life. You’ll support students whose engagement may be affected by confidence, organisation, or wellbeing challenges.
Your role will include providing in-class support, helping pupils organise work, and offering calm reassurance during moments of difficulty. Some students may struggle with independence or sustained focus; others benefit from having expectations clarified and tasks broken into manageable steps. You’ll help pupils stay connected to learning without pressure or dependency.
Working closely with teachers, tutors, and pastoral teams, you’ll contribute to consistent support strategies that promote independence, resilience, and positive engagement. This role suits someone calm, reliable, and motivated by helping young people feel supported as they grow in confidence.
Provide in-class and day-to-day student support.
Support organisation, focus, and task completion.
Offer calm guidance during transitions and challenges.
Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams.
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Experience supporting Secondary-aged pupils or young people.
Clear, supportive communication style.
Confidence supporting academic and emotional needs.
Strong safeguarding awareness and consistent practice.
