Job Description
A specialist SEND setting in Sandwell is seeking a compassionate and proactive Intervention Worker to join their team on a long-term basis. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships with young people, deliver targeted interventions, and support pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD, and behavioural challenges.
Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals, you'll provide personalised support that helps pupils engage positively with education while promoting emotional wellbeing and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support pupil progress
Build positive relationships that encourage trust, confidence, and engagement
Support pupils with SEMH, SEND, Autism (ASC), ADHD, and behavioural needs
Help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, families, and external agencies
Monitor, record, and evaluate the impact of interventions
Promote positive behaviour and encourage active participation in school life
Maintain safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Ability to deliver targeted interventions that improve outcomes
Excellent teamwork and organisational skills
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Experience within education, youth work, social care, or family support
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or restorative approaches
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Ability to motivate and inspire disengaged learners
Flexible, adaptable, and solution-focused mindset
