Job Description

A caring Primary school in Coventry is seeking a KS1 Teaching Assistant to support young learners as they build early confidence in reading, writing, and classroom routines. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to guide pupils who benefit from gentle encouragement, structure, and patient modelling during daily activities.

Your role will involve supporting early phonics, reading practice, small-group tasks, and transitions between lessons. Some pupils may need help settling into the day; others benefit from consistent reminders and visual prompts to stay focused. You’ll help create an environment where children feel safe, noticed, and motivated to learn.

This role suits someone calm, kind, and passionate about early education — someone who enjoys helping pupils find joy and pride in their first steps of learning.

Support KS1 pupils during lessons and group tasks.
Assist with early literacy, phonics, and numeracy.
Help maintain routines and transitions.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher and support team.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Experience supporting young Primary pupils.

  • Warm, encouraging communication style.

  • Confidence assisting with phonics and early learning.

  • Strong safeguarding awareness.
