Job Description

Milestone Education is seeking enthusiastic and energetic Teaching Assistant / Sports Coaches to work within welcoming primary schools across Birmingham. This role is ideal for individuals with a sports coaching background who are passionate about motivating children, encouraging positive behaviour, and supporting pupils both in the classroom and through physical activity.

Working alongside teachers and support staff, you'll help pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally while promoting teamwork, confidence, and healthy lifestyles.

Key Responsibilities
Support teachers in delivering engaging classroom lessons and learning activities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils across the school
Assist pupils with SEND, SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs
Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and independence
Support classroom organisation and the preparation of learning resources
Monitor and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families
Support pupils in managing behaviour using positive strategies
Deliver and support sporting activities that promote teamwork, resilience, confidence, and wellbeing
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people

  • Sports coaching experience within schools, clubs, or community settings

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Positive, energetic, and proactive approach

  • Ability to motivate and inspire pupils of all abilities

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes

  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
