Job Description

A specialist school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional learning needs. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and enjoys helping learners overcome barriers to learning in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Working alongside teachers and specialist staff, you'll play an important role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop social and communication skills, and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with a range of SEND needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
Assist with classroom learning and differentiated activities
Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and participation
Support pupils' social, emotional, and communication development
Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff
Help implement personalised learning and support plans
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Previous SEND experience

  • Classroom-based experience within a school setting

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach

  • Ability to adapt to individual pupil needs

  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
