Job Description
A specialist school in Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs. This role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships, provide emotional and academic support, and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
You'll work closely with teachers and support staff to create a safe, structured, and engaging environment where pupils can develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with a range of SEND needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
Assist with classroom learning and differentiated activities
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Support pupils with social, emotional, and communication development
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Assist with personal care where required
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
Ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations
Understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
