Job Description

A school in Coventry is seeking a dedicated Attendance and Behaviour Mentor to support pupils and families in improving attendance, engagement, wellbeing, and behaviour. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential and enjoys building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.

Working closely with school leaders, pastoral teams, and external agencies, you'll play a key role in identifying barriers to learning and implementing effective strategies to support positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Support the improvement of pupil attendance and punctuality
Work with pupils and families to identify and overcome barriers to learning
Conduct meetings and maintain positive home-school relationships
Provide targeted behaviour and wellbeing interventions for individuals and small groups
Support pupils displaying challenging behaviours and promote positive outcomes
Monitor attendance, welfare, and safeguarding concerns
Liaise with external agencies and support services where appropriate
Assist with Early Help referrals and pastoral support programmes
Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil support plans
Support safeguarding procedures and work closely with designated safeguarding staff where required

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, pastoral, or support capacity

  • Strong understanding of attendance, behaviour, and pupil wellbeing

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work effectively with pupils, families, and external agencies

  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills

  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements

  • Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations

  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
