Job Description
Milestone Education is seeking compassionate and resilient 1:1 Behaviour Support Practitioners to work across specialist educational settings in Birmingham and Worcestershire. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEND, and challenging behaviours, providing the consistency and encouragement they need to thrive.
Working closely with teachers, SENDCos, and wider support teams, you'll deliver personalised support while helping pupils develop confidence, emotional regulation, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
Implement behaviour support plans and agreed interventions
Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions
Encourage engagement in learning and wider school activities
Use positive behaviour strategies and effective de-escalation techniques
Monitor, record, and report pupil progress, incidents, and achievements
Liaise with teachers, SENDCos, parents, and external professionals
Promote independence while providing appropriate levels of support
Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or SEND
Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support approaches
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Ability to follow behaviour support plans and safeguarding procedures
Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for young people
DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA, or equivalent behaviour management training
Experience within a school, alternative provision, or care setting
Knowledge of EHCPs and the SEND Code of Practice
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Ability to adapt to a variety of educational settings
Passion for supporting children with additional needs
