Job Description
A forward-thinking primary school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Behaviour Mentor to support a pupil with additional behavioural and emotional needs. Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with behavioural and emotional needs
Build a positive, trusting relationship that promotes confidence and engagement
Support pupils to access learning and remain focused throughout the school day
Implement behaviour support strategies in partnership with teaching staff
Encourage positive social interactions and emotional regulation
Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, parents, and external professionals
Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews
Desired Experience + Qualifications
Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or a related field is desirable
Previous experience supporting children with SEND on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
Strong understanding of behaviour support and inclusive practice
Two professional references covering the previous two years
DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Positive, proactive attitude
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Graduate or equivalent professional experience welcomed
Calm, confident, and resilient under pressure
Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative
Genuine ambition to develop a long-term career within education
