Job Description
A Birmingham SEND school is looking for a compassionate Behaviour + Learning Mentor to support pupils with additional social, emotional, and behavioural needs. In this role, you’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to create safe, structured routines that help pupils feel secure and understood. You’ll build trusted relationships, model positive behaviours, and use tailored strategies to encourage engagement and self-regulation. No two days will be the same — one moment you’ll be supporting classroom learning, the next you’ll be helping a pupil reset and refocus after a tough morning. It’s a role that suits someone with patience, warmth, and a calm, grounded presence.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group mentoring for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour management
Collaborate with teachers and therapists to develop and implement support plans
Foster an inclusive, understanding environment where every pupil feels valued
Desired Experience
+ Qualifications
Experience working with SEND or SEMH pupils
Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills
A patient, nurturing approach to supporting behaviour
Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic school environment
