Job Description

We’re looking for a Behaviour Buddy to join a welcoming SEND school in Coventry that supports pupils aged 8–16 with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. This role is all about connection — helping children regulate, re-engage, and rebuild their confidence in learning. You’ll support pupils both in and out of class, offering a mix of academic guidance and emotional coaching. Some days you’ll be de-escalating a situation with empathy. Others, you’ll be celebrating a student’s first successful morning of focused learning. It’s a role for someone patient, proactive, and passionate about giving every child a fair chance to succeed.

Job Responsibilities:
Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Encourage participation in learning through structured routines and trust-building
Implement individual behaviour plans and monitor progress daily
Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, and parents to support each child’s development

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience working with SEMH or SEND pupils in school or alternative provision
Calm and confident approach in managing challenging behaviour
Understanding of trauma-informed and restorative practices
Strong teamwork skills and a reflective learning mindset

About the School

This Coventry SEND school serves pupils aged 8–16 with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in a calm, structured environment where relationships come first. Rated Good by Ofsted, it balances firm, consistent routines with compassion and personalised support. Class sizes are small and every learner has a clear plan that focuses on regulation, communication, and re-engagement with learning. The curriculum blends core subjects with tailored life-skills, creative projects, and outdoor learning, so pupils experience success in ways that feel meaningful to them. Staff work as a tight multi-disciplinary team — teachers, pastoral leads, and therapists share strategies daily and celebrate the small steps that become big wins over time. Recent priorities include strengthening attendance, broadening therapeutic interventions, and expanding enrichment so pupils feel connected to the wider community. New colleagues are welcomed with coaching, CPD in trauma-informed and restorative practice, and practical mentoring so you never feel on your own. If you want to join a school that genuinely lives its values — where patient, consistent adults help pupils rebuild confidence and move forward — this is a fantastic place to make a visible difference and grow your career.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!

All roles are paid in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions, or are matched with each school’s salary guidelines for the role you undertake. We'll always negotiate the best possible pay rates that reflect your hard work, experience and qualifications.
