Job Description

This role is ideal for someone who wants to be actively involved in supporting pupils who need structure, reassurance, and guidance to succeed. As a Behaviour Buddy, you’ll work across KS1 and KS2 in a Birmingham North primary school, helping children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs stay engaged in learning. You’ll support pupils with transitions, regulation, and routines, as well as help them access lessons more confidently. The school places a strong emphasis on restorative practice, small-group intervention, and consistent adult modelling. You’ll collaborate with pastoral leads, class teachers, and the SENDCO to ensure each pupil receives the right support without stigma. This is not a general TA role—your time will be focused on building trust, promoting positive choices, and preventing escalation. If you’ve got a calm presence, a sense of humour, and a passion for pupil wellbeing, this is a standout opportunity to make visible, meaningful impact.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral and behavioural support
Implement de-escalation and regulation strategies
Assist with transitions, routines, and classroom engagement
Liaise with SENDCO, class teachers, and pastoral teams
Support restorative conversations and positive behaviour plans
Track pupil progress and behaviour patterns

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience in pastoral support, behaviour roles, or SEND settings
Confident using positive behaviour strategies
Strong communication and emotional intelligence
Adaptable and patient under pressure
Able to build rapport with children and staff
Committed to inclusive practice

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!
