Job Description
This role is perfect if you’re the kind of person who can connect with pupils who need a bit more patience, encouragement and structure throughout the school day. As a Behaviour Buddy, you’ll support children across Early Years and Key Stage 2 who may struggle with focus, social interaction, emotional regulation or transitions. Rather than acting as a disciplinarian, you’ll be part of a restorative and nurturing approach—helping pupils calm down, re-engage and communicate their needs more positively. You’ll liaise with class teachers, SENCOs and pastoral leads to make sure support is consistent and meaningful. The school actively encourages creativity in behaviour strategies, using zones of regulation, sensory breaks, mentoring sessions and movement-based interventions. If you enjoy working directly with pupils and want to be part of a school where support staff have genuine impact, this position gives you space to grow and be valued.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide one-to-one and in-class regulation support
Implement calm strategies, movement breaks and de-escalation techniques
Assist teaching staff with behaviour plans and classroom routines
Build rapport with pupils who need tailored encouragement
Support transitions between lessons, activities and outdoor time
Desired Experience
+ Qualifications
Experience working with children in schools, care, youth work or similar
Confident supporting behaviour using positive strategies
Empathy, patience and good listening skills
Understanding of SEMH, autism or additional needs is beneficial
Willingness to complete relevant training and safeguarding checks
