Job Description

A compassionate SEND school in Oxfordshire is seeking a patient and proactive Behaviour Buddy to join their dedicated inclusion team. You’ll work closely with pupils aged 7–14 who need additional guidance to manage emotions, behaviour, and transitions throughout the school day. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role — one where your calm approach and consistency can change how a child feels about learning. You’ll support children through moments of challenge, encourage self-regulation, and help them reconnect with learning after difficult periods. With access to mentoring, structured training, and a team that genuinely cares, this role offers both fulfilment and professional development.

Job Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with behavioural or emotional needs.
Implement de-escalation and regulation strategies in collaboration with teaching staff.
Support pupils’ social and emotional learning across the curriculum.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to individual support plans.

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience supporting children with SEMH, autism, or additional needs.
Calm, consistent, and reflective approach to supporting challenging behaviour.
Strong communication skills and emotional resilience.
Genuine belief in inclusion and the potential of every learner.

About the School

This Good Ofsted-rated Oxfordshire SEND school is known for its nurturing ethos and positive relationships between staff and pupils. Class sizes are small, allowing for highly individualised teaching and responsive care. The school’s approach combines structure with warmth, focusing on helping pupils understand and manage their emotions while building confidence in their abilities. Staff describe it as a “family feel” workplace — supportive, encouraging, and well-resourced. The leadership team prioritises wellbeing and professional development, ensuring that everyone feels equipped to make a meaningful impact. This is a school where success is measured in progress, not perfection, and every step forward is celebrated.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

Our HR and Safeguarding team consistently go the extra mile to complete your checks as quickly as possible - at no cost to you. To put so much hard work and valuable time into completing these checks and then NOT deliver the opportunities you are looking for…? Well, we’d go out of business pretty quickly!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!

All roles are paid in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions, or are matched with each school’s salary guidelines for the role you undertake. We'll always negotiate the best possible pay rates that reflect your hard work, experience and qualifications.
