Job Description
A high-performing secondary school in Coventry is seeking a Behaviour Support Coach to strengthen its pastoral and inclusion team. This role combines structured behaviour mentoring with in-class support, targeted intervention, and relationship-led practice. You will support pupils who need help with emotional regulation, behaviour routines, attendance motivation, or re-engagement with learning. Working closely with Heads of Year, SEND staff, and the safeguarding team, you will help create an environment where pupils feel seen, supported, and capable of meeting expectations. The school is looking for someone with a calm approach, a confident manner, and the ability to establish boundaries while remaining approachable and trusted by students. This is an ideal next step for candidates with pastoral, youth work, or behaviour SEMH experience who want to make a measurable impact in a stable secondary setting.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide daily behaviour and pastoral support for identified KS3 and KS4 pupils.
Deliver 1:1 mentoring programmes focused on self-regulation, routines, and goal setting.
Support reintegration plans, restorative conversations, and calm-room interventions.
Work with teaching teams to embed behaviour expectations and positive relationship practices.
Desired Experience
+ Qualifications
Experience working with teenagers in education, youth work, or SEMH environments.
Ability to remain calm and composed during dysregulation or conflict.
Confident communicator who can build trust without compromising boundaries.
Understanding of behaviour pathways, safeguarding, and whole-school systems.
About the School
This Coventry-based secondary school holds a Good Ofsted rating and is well-regarded locally for its strong pastoral systems and emphasis on consistency. The school has invested in developing a well-structured behaviour and wellbeing team, meaning coaches work within clear frameworks supported by senior leaders. Classrooms follow predictable routines, ensuring students know what is expected and staff have the clarity needed to build meaningful relationships. Achievement is strong across core subjects, and the school prioritises attendance, readiness to learn, and aspirational messaging throughout the day. Pupils benefit from access to mentoring spaces, a well-equipped inclusion centre, and a dedicated multi-agency support network. Staff describe the school as organised, purposeful, and supportive — a place where behaviour staff are valued as key contributors to pupil progress.
