Job Description

This secondary role suits someone who can balance authority with empathy. You’ll work with pupils who struggle to regulate their emotions, stay focused or follow class expectations. Rather than removing pupils from learning, you’ll support them to re-engage, make better choices and build confidence in their abilities. You’ll collaborate with pastoral leads and teaching staff, offering guidance in class and during one-to-one conversations. The aim is to prevent escalation, encourage reflection and create a supportive bridge between pupils and staff so students can settle, participate and succeed in the school day.

Job Responsibilities:
Provide in-class behaviour support to maintain engagemen
Run de-escalation conversations and tailored check-ins with pupils
Liaise with teaching and pastoral teams on strategies and progress
Track behaviour patterns and offer early intervention

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience with KS3/KS4 pupils in education, care or youth settings
Confident de-escalating and building rapport quickly
Ability to stay firm, calm and respectful under pressure
Willing to follow behaviour plans and share feedback

About the School

This Coventry secondary school has a committed pastoral structure and a strong reputation for inclusive practice. Staff focus on early intervention, pupil advocacy and consistent boundaries, recognising that challenging behaviour usually stems from unmet needs or unsettled circumstances. The school provides training on restorative approaches and values staff who communicate clearly and remain compassionate. Class teams work collaboratively, and new staff are offered guidance from experienced colleagues who understand both the pressures and the rewards of the role.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

Our HR and Safeguarding team consistently go the extra mile to complete your checks as quickly as possible - at no cost to you. To put so much hard work and valuable time into completing these checks and then NOT deliver the opportunities you are looking for…? Well, we’d go out of business pretty quickly!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!

All roles are paid in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions, or are matched with each school’s salary guidelines for the role you undertake. We'll always negotiate the best possible pay rates that reflect your hard work, experience and qualifications.
