Job Description

As a Complex Needs Learning Guide you will support pupils who have significant learning needs autism sensory processing differences communication challenges or physical disabilities. Your role centres on helping each pupil access learning in a structured predictable and emotionally safe way using personalised approaches tailored to their individual profiles.

Daily support may include guiding pupils through communication routines AAC devices sensory circuits physical prompts task breakdowns or emotional check-ins. You will work alongside teachers therapists and support staff to deliver specialist interventions that strengthen pupils’ communication engagement and independence.

This role requires patience empathy and an ability to tune into how each child expresses themselves. You will help pupils build confidence in small steps celebrating every breakthrough whether it is a new communication attempt a moment of sustained focus or a successful transition. This is purposeful rewarding work in a school that values specialist practice and reflective teamwork.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver personalised one to one support for pupils with complex SEND
Support communication using AAC visual supports and structured routines
Assist with sensory regulation and daily sensory programmes
Adapt learning tasks for accessibility and comfort
Monitor progress and share observations with the SENCo and therapists
