Job Description
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the fast pace of secondary classrooms and wants to gain experience across a wide range of subjects. As a Cover Mentor you will step into lessons with calm authority, guiding pupils through pre-planned work and ensuring learning continues smoothly in the absence of the class teacher. You’ll be based in a forward-thinking Coventry secondary school that values consistency, clarity and positive relationships.
Your work will include managing the flow of the lesson, keeping pupils on task, answering questions where appropriate and ensuring behaviour expectations are cleanly upheld. You’ll build strong rapport with students from a range of backgrounds and contribute to a stable and supportive school culture. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver pre-set lessons across multiple subjects
Maintain calm routines and clear expectations
Support pupils with task understanding and clarification
Manage transitions, seating, behaviour and engagement
Work closely with department leads to ensure continuity
