Job Description

We are looking for a Primary Classroom Assistant to support learning across EYFS and Key Stage 1 in a vibrant Coventry school. You will work alongside class teachers to facilitate small-group learning, provide 1:1 support where required, and play an active role in phonics, early literacy, and numeracy activities. No two days will be the same — you might be leading a reading corner in the morning, helping with creative play after break, or supporting outdoor learning in the afternoon. This role is ideal for someone patient, warm, and proactive, who thrives when helping children build confidence and independence through positive encouragement. You’ll be encouraged to bring your personality and ideas to lessons, supporting both academic development and emotional wellbeing.

Job Responsibilities
Support whole-class, group, and 1:1 learning activities.
Assist with early reading, phonics, and number work.
Help maintain a positive, engaging classroom environment.
Encourage independence, kindness, and confidence in pupils.

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Previous school or childcare experience desirable.
Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic personality.
Willingness to support pupils with varying needs.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

About the School

This Coventry primary school, rated Good by Ofsted, is known for its welcoming ethos and strong focus on inclusion. Inspectors highlight the excellent relationships between staff and pupils and the school’s success in helping children develop academically and personally. Families and the wider community are closely involved in school life, creating a sense of unity and pride throughout the year. The curriculum balances traditional learning with creativity — pupils take part in themed weeks, outdoor exploration, and expressive arts projects. Staff describe the school as a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to develop. For a Classroom Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in a nurturing setting, this is an excellent opportunity.
