Job Description
This Primary Cover Supervisor role is designed for someone who enjoys working across different year groups, bringing energy and structure to every classroom. You will be stepping into lessons to ensure continuity of learning, following pre-prepared plans while also using your own initiative to engage children. It’s about more than just “holding the fort” – you’ll be creating a supportive, encouraging atmosphere where pupils can focus, learn, and feel secure even when their teacher is away.
You’ll get to know children from across the school, making this role varied and rewarding. Whether you’re keeping a lively Year 2 class on task or supporting a group of Year 5 pupils with a science activity, you’ll be central to maintaining high expectations. It’s an ideal role for those considering teaching in the future, or for individuals who enjoy a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Deliver set lessons across a range of subjects and year groups.
Maintain a calm and positive learning environment.
Support pupils with classroom routines and expectations.
Provide feedback to teachers on lesson progress.
