Job Description

A vibrant primary school in Birmingham South is seeking a Pupil Premium Progress Partner to support children who benefit from extra encouragement in reading, writing, confidence and learning routines. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys spotting small wins, building quick rapport and helping pupils realise their potential through consistent, targeted support. You’ll work directly with Pupil Premium learners across KS1 and KS2, delivering structured interventions, guiding them through next steps and supporting them in class to strengthen focus, resilience and independence. Teachers rely on progress partners as an integral part of the learning team — someone who notices barriers early, adapts tasks, and brings positivity into each session. If you’re the type of person who thrives when you see children “click” with something new, you’ll thrive here. The school is friendly, forward-thinking and gives support staff real ownership over the impact they help create.

Job Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted small-group and 1:1 interventions linked to reading, writing and confidence-building.
Support pupils in class with clarity, calmness and adaptive approaches.
Track progress indicators and share insights with teachers to refine learning plans.
Help pupils develop learning routines, resilience and independence throughout the school day.

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience supporting primary-aged pupils, particularly with intervention delivery.
Confident communicator with empathy, energy and strong relationship-building skills.
Understanding of Pupil Premium needs and how socioeconomic factors can affect learning.
Flexible, reliable and able to work collaboratively across year groups.

Staff champion creativity, language-rich learning and positive emotional development. The school has a strong track record of improving pupil outcomes through well-planned interventions, especially for disadvantaged learners. Their Pupil Premium strategy blends academic support with wellbeing-focused practice, ensuring children feel confident and cared for as they grow. The environment is calm, structured and full of opportunities for hands-on and experiential learning. Staff describe the leadership team as present, supportive and committed to professional development. The school values its support staff highly and invests in coaching, feedback and training to help them deliver meaningful interventions. For someone who wants to work in a school where kindness and ambition genuinely go together, this setting offers a chance to make a lasting difference.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!

All roles are paid in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions, or are matched with each school’s salary guidelines for the role you undertake. We'll always negotiate the best possible pay rates that reflect your hard work, experience and qualifications.
