Job Description

A thriving Birmingham South primary school is seeking a Pupil Premium Teaching Assistant to join its inclusive and forward-thinking team. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting children identified as needing extra guidance to reach their full potential — helping bridge learning gaps, boost confidence, and develop independent learning habits. Working closely with class teachers, you’ll deliver small-group sessions in English and Maths while also supporting social and emotional growth. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys seeing real progress in pupils who simply need an extra push and a positive presence. The school invests heavily in TA development, offering mentoring, coaching, and access to high-quality CPD to help you grow in your role.

Job Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group academic support to pupils eligible for Pupil Premium funding.
Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and track pupil progress.
Build relationships that promote self-esteem and resilience.
Support pupils during transitions and across a range of classroom activities.

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience supporting children in a classroom or intervention role
Empathy, patience, and strong communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a collaborative, student-centred team.
Enthusiasm for helping children overcome barriers to achievement.

About the School

This Good Ofsted-rated Birmingham South primary school is a lively, inclusive environment where pupils are encouraged to be curious, confident, and kind. Staff pride themselves on building strong relationships and celebrating every learner’s individuality. The school’s leadership has cultivated a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, with clear progression opportunities and a commitment to staff wellbeing. The curriculum blends academic rigour with creativity — from outdoor projects to arts-led learning — ensuring that education remains joyful and meaningful. Families describe the school as “a real community hub,” and staff echo that sense of belonging. You’ll join a team that values laughter as much as learning.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

Our HR and Safeguarding team consistently go the extra mile to complete your checks as quickly as possible - at no cost to you. To put so much hard work and valuable time into completing these checks and then NOT deliver the opportunities you are looking for…? Well, we’d go out of business pretty quickly!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!

All roles are paid in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions, or are matched with each school’s salary guidelines for the role you undertake. We'll always negotiate the best possible pay rates that reflect your hard work, experience and qualifications.
