Job Description

An experienced Science Technician is required to join a secondary school in Birmingham, working across two campuses (B1 preferred, also covering B42). Ideal candidates will have prior science‐lab experience—either in schools or external labs—be skilled in setup, equipment management, health & safety protocols, and supporting teachers in delivering high‑quality practical science lessons.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain science equipment and labs for KS3/KS4 lessons
Ensure safe, compliant handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and materials
Assist teaching staff with practical demonstrations, class setups and resource creation
Maintain accurate stock records, order supplies, and manage budget considerations
Uphold strict laboratory safety standards, including risk assessments, health & safety and allergy protocols

Proven experience as a science technician in an educational or industrial setting
Strong laboratory knowledge, including safe handling of chemicals and equipment
Skilled with lab setups for GCSE/KS4 practicals and capable of supporting teachers effectively
Excellent organisational and communication skills, proactive and reliable
Ability to cover multiple subject areas and adapt to different lesson needs
