Job Description
As a Secondary English Teacher, you’ll take centre stage in shaping pupils’ understanding of literature, language, and communication. This role is about sparking curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and helping students find their voice. You’ll deliver engaging lessons that make Shakespeare feel relevant and persuasive writing feel powerful. With autonomy to bring your creativity into the classroom, you’ll guide students through both classic texts and modern works, adapting approaches to reach learners of all abilities.
Your lessons will do more than cover curriculum requirements – they’ll help students build confidence in reading, writing, and speaking. From lively class debates to thoughtful analysis of poetry, you’ll encourage students to connect learning to the world around them. Beyond teaching, you’ll play a key role in supporting extracurricular activities such as book clubs, drama productions, or debate societies. This is a role for someone who values both academic rigour and the personal growth of every pupil.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 + KS4.
Support pupils in developing literacy and analytical skills.
Prepare students for GCSE exams with tailored interventions.
Contribute to extracurricular activities and school culture.
