Job Description

As a Geography Teacher, you’ll show students that the subject is so much more than maps and place names. Teaching across KS3 and KS4, you’ll spark curiosity about people, places, and the environment—helping pupils link local issues with global challenges. From climate change and migration to cultural diversity, your teaching will deepen their understanding of the world around them.

Your lessons will blend academic rigour with creative, inquiry-based methods—utilising technology, fieldwork, and real-world resources. You'll guide students through GCSE geography, providing targeted support to ensure strong outcomes. And beyond the curriculum, you’ll have the opportunity to shape eco-clubs, outdoor learning initiatives, and sustainability projects that make a tangible impact.

If you thrive on inspiring debate, encouraging critical thinking, and connecting lessons to lived experiences, this is the role for you.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging geography lessons across KS3 and KS4.

Prepare students for GCSE exams with focused interventions.

Promote enquiry-based learning and critical thinking.

Support enrichment such as field trips and eco-projects.

QTS with a geography specialism.

Strong subject knowledge and a passion for global issues.

Creativity in teaching methods and confidence in fieldwork.

Ability to motivate and inspire a diverse learner group.

About the School

This Coventry-based secondary school, rated Good by Ofsted, is renowned for nurturing global citizens. Sustainability is at its core—students participate in eco-projects, community partnerships, and outdoor learning experiences.

The geography department is vibrant and well-resourced, complete with interactive tech and digital mapping tools. GCSE results regularly exceed national averages, and many students continue with geography into KS4.

The school’s culture reflects curiosity, respect, and resilience, fostering social responsibility alongside academic success. Fieldwork is integral, with regular trips built into the curriculum.

Staff enjoy strong professional development and chances to lead in curriculum innovation. If you're keen to connect the classroom to the wider world creatively and boldly, this is the ideal place to thrive.

That’s it! Our process is simple, and our consultants will advise on how to fast track your checks so you can start working ASAP.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

Our HR and Safeguarding team consistently go the extra mile to complete your checks as quickly as possible - at no cost to you. To put so much hard work and valuable time into completing these checks and then NOT deliver the opportunities you are looking for…? Well, we’d go out of business pretty quickly!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!

All roles are paid in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions, or are matched with each school’s salary guidelines for the role you undertake. We'll always negotiate the best possible pay rates that reflect your hard work, experience and qualifications.
