Job Description

As a Secondary Motivation and Behaviour Coach, you will work with pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 who need structured guidance, emotional coaching, and clear expectations to stay engaged with school life. You will build strong, supportive relationships with students who may struggle with confidence, focus, behaviour challenges, or inconsistent attendance.

Working closely with the pastoral team, class teachers, and behaviour leads, you will offer in-class support, one-to-one mentoring, and small-group sessions that focus on motivation, emotional regulation, organisation, and personal responsibility. You will help pupils reflect on their choices, recognise their strengths, and set positive goals that support long-term growth.

This role suits someone who connects naturally with teenagers, communicates honestly but kindly, and understands that every young person’s behaviour has a reason behind it. Your presence helps pupils feel seen, supported, and guided through challenges that might otherwise derail their learning.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide one-to-one mentoring for pupils with behaviour or emotional needs.
Support students in lessons with focus, organisation, and engagement.
Lead small-group sessions on motivation, resilience, and self-management.
Assist with restorative conversations and reintegration plans.
Share insights with pastoral leads to inform ongoing intervention.

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils.
Confident communicator with strong relational skills.
Understanding of behaviour as communication.
Ability to remain calm, consistent, and encouraging.
Strong safeguarding awareness.

About the School

This Coventry (CV6) secondary school is recognised for its robust pastoral structure, high behavioural expectations, and strong commitment to ensuring pupils feel supported academically and personally. Rated Good by Ofsted, the school prides itself on clear routines, consistent communication, and a culture where positive relationships sit at the centre of everything.

The pastoral team works collaboratively to identify pupils who require additional guidance and ensure they receive well-structured, consistent interventions. Mentoring spaces, behaviour hubs, and wellbeing rooms offer safe environments where pupils can reflect, regulate, and reset before returning to learning.

Staff receive training in restorative practice, trauma-informed approaches, emotional coaching, and mental health awareness. Families frequently describe the school as responsive, caring, and dedicated to ensuring pupils achieve more than they believed possible.

For someone who enjoys building relationships, guiding young people through challenging moments, and working within a supportive pastoral network, this school offers a purposeful and rewarding place to grow professionally.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!
