Job Description

This role is ideal for a science teacher who wants more than generic lesson plans and overcrowded classrooms. You’ll be teaching KS3 and KS4 pupils in a school that genuinely values subject expertise and gives staff space to try innovative approaches. From practical experiments to STEM projects, you’ll have access to well-equipped labs and a team that shares resources instead of guarding them. The school supports teachers with structured PPA time, excellent technician support, and behaviour systems that actually work. You’ll contribute to science enrichment, targeted interventions, and curriculum development—without being buried in admin. If you’re passionate about Chemistry, Physics, or Biology and want your ideas to matter, this role offers that space.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons across KS3–KS4 Science
Run or support STEM clubs, revision sessions, or enrichment projects
Track progress and provide targeted intervention where needed
Collaborate with the science department to build resources and schemes
Use practical experiments and demonstrations confidently
Contribute to departmental improvement and whole-school culture

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

QTS or relevant teaching qualification in Science
Experience delivering KS3 or KS4 curriculum
Strong behaviour management and classroom presence
Passion for enrichment, experimentation, and pupil progress
Ability to differentiate for mixed-ability groups
Openness to CPD and collaborative planning

About the School

Based in Coventry, this Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ secondary has built its reputation on academic ambition and inclusive practice. With a specialist STEM focus, the school partners with local universities and industry links to develop pathways into engineering, healthcare, and technology. Science is one of their strongest departments, benefitting from modern labs, funded enrichment, and cross-curricular innovation. Behaviour standards are high, but the culture isn’t authoritarian—it’s built on pupil respect, consistency, and proactive intervention. The school’s leadership team invests heavily in staff retention through mentoring, workload management, and internal progression. GCSE outcomes are consistently above national averages, with particular strengths in science subjects. If you want to teach in a school where resources match expectations and ambition is backed by infrastructure, this is the right fit.
