Job Description

We are seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with SEMH or trauma in educational or community settings. You’ll provide targeted support, deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions, and help create a calm, structured environment where pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH or trauma-related needs
Adapt learning strategies, resources and approaches to meet individual needs
Support pupils’ emotional regulation, self-esteem and social development using nurture-based and positive behaviour strategies
Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to monitor progress and contribute to support plans
Maintain a safe, inclusive and emotionally supportive learning environment

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, trauma or related needs in school, care or community settings
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and strategies to support emotional wellbeing
Strong interpersonal skills; calm, patient, empathetic and resilient
Ability to adapt flexibly and support a range of emotional and behavioural needs
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
