Job Description

A specialist SEND school in Coventry is seeking a SEND Engagement Coach to support learners with a range of complex needs, including autism, communication differences and social–emotional challenges. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on genuine connection and believes progress is built through patience, consistency and curiosity. You’ll work alongside teachers and therapists to help pupils access learning through structured routines, visual supports and calm engagement strategies. Your day may include supporting sensory regulation sessions, adapting activities so pupils can participate with confidence, and guiding them through transitions that often feel overwhelming. This school values relational practice, modelling, and meaningful interactions — recognising that pupils learn best when adults build trust and follow their communication cues. If you’re passionate about helping young people feel secure enough to explore, express and achieve, you’ll find this role deeply fulfilling and full of opportunities to create lasting impact.

Job Responsibilities:
Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation and structured engagement.
Use visual supports, routines and communication tools to help pupils access learning safely.
Work closely with therapists and SEND specialists to implement tailored strategies.
Assist with transitions, sensory breaks and wellbeing-focused activities throughout the day.

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience working in SEND, specialist provisions or with pupils who have autism or SEMH needs.
A calm, thoughtful and responsive approach to communication and behaviour.
Understanding of sensory needs, AAC tools or visual supports (PECS, symbols, timetables).
Adaptable, reliable and able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
