Job Description
As a SEND Engagement Specialist, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring they can access learning, feel emotionally secure, and develop the confidence to take part in daily school routines. You will work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and pastoral leads to implement structured support strategies tailored to each pupil’s communication style, sensory needs, and learning profile.
Your day-to-day work may include helping pupils transition between activities, breaking tasks into smaller steps, modelling communication approaches, and supporting self-regulation through personalised techniques. Pupils may have autism, speech and language difficulties, learning delays, or social communication differences. Your calm presence and clear communication will help reduce anxiety, increase engagement, and strengthen pupils’ sense of belonging in the classroom.
You will also deliver short interventions focused on emotional literacy, independence skills, or resilience building—all designed to help pupils move forward at a pace that works for them. This role suits someone who is patient, adaptable, and genuinely curious about how each child learns best.

About the School
This Solihull (B91) SEND school is known for its incredibly nurturing ethos, structured routines, and personalised approach to meeting pupils’ complex needs. Rated Good by Ofsted, the school offers a calm, well-organised environment where pupils are supported through clear communication systems, consistent expectations, and meaningful therapeutic input.
Classrooms are designed to reduce sensory overwhelm, with visual cues, defined learning zones, and predictable schedules that help pupils feel safe and ready to learn. Staff work collaboratively across teaching, therapy, and pastoral teams to ensure each child receives support that truly fits their individual needs. The school also prioritises independence, offering life skills programmes, communication pathways, and emotional regulation activities.
Training is a strong part of staff development, with opportunities to learn about autism practice, sensory regulation, trauma-informed approaches, and communication systems. Families often describe the school as life-changing, praising its warmth, structure, and genuine care for pupils.
This setting is ideal for someone who values teamwork, patience, and the chance to support children in meaningful, lasting ways.
