Job Description

This role is ideal for someone who understands that behaviour is communication and wants to help pupils feel safe, heard, and able to learn. As a SEND Learning Mentor, you’ll work with pupils who have complex learning profiles, including autism, global developmental delay, communication needs, and SEMH challenges. The role combines classroom support with emotional coaching, sensory regulation, and partnership working with teaching and therapeutic teams. You’ll help pupils access learning through personalised strategies—not generic intervention. This isn’t a crowd-control role; it’s about unlocking engagement and trust with consistency and empathy. You’ll track progress, contribute to EHCP targets, and take a proactive approach to wellbeing and behaviour support. If you want purpose-driven work with visible impact, this setting gives you the structure and support to thrive.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver 1:1 and group interventions aligned to EHCP goals
Support communication, regulation, and behaviour strategies throughout the day
Facilitate sensory breaks and structured transitions for pupils
Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
Maintain progress notes and contribute to target reviews
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Proven experience in SEND, PRU, pastoral, or behaviour support settings
Knowledge of autism, SEMH, and communication strategies
Patience, resilience, and reflective practice
Ability to follow individual pupil plans and adapt quickly
Strong interpersonal skills and professional boundaries
Desire to progress within SEND education

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!
