Job Description

A specialist SEND school in Dudley is searching for a SEND Learning Mentor who can bring energy, empathy, and practical problem-solving to the classroom. You’ll work closely with pupils who have complex communication, sensory, or behavioural needs, helping them access learning with confidence and consistency. This is an active, hands-on role — you’ll model self-regulation strategies, adapt tasks, help pupils navigate transitions, and become a trusted adult across the school day. The position is perfect for someone who naturally connects with young people, responds well in dynamic situations, and thrives in a team that truly values pastoral strength as much as curriculum knowledge. If you’re looking for a role where your support directly shapes a pupil’s wellbeing, this is it.

Job Responsibilities:
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who require targeted SEND and pastoral support.
Deliver 1:1 and small-group learning sessions with adapted resources.
Implement sensory, communication, or behaviour-regulation strategies across the school day.
Work closely with the SENCO, therapists, and teachers to personalise support plans.

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND needs.
Confidence using structured routines, visual systems, and de-escalation techniques.
A proactive, positive mindset and willingness to adapt quickly.
Commitment to inclusive, student-centred practice.
