Job Description

A Good-rated secondary school in Birmingham North is looking for a SEND Learning Partner to join its supportive inclusion team. You’ll work closely with teachers and SENCOs to help students with additional needs access learning and develop confidence both in and outside the classroom. This is a role built on relationships — listening carefully, noticing the small wins, and helping pupils build independence through consistent, calm support. You’ll provide tailored interventions, promote emotional regulation, and encourage students to take ownership of their learning journey. Every day is different — some challenging, all rewarding — and you’ll have the opportunity to grow your own skills through training and mentorship.

Job Responsibilities:
Support students with SEND, including autism and ADHD, across core subjects.
Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions to reinforce understanding.
Implement behaviour and sensory regulation strategies.
Collaborate with teachers and SENCO to track progress and adapt plans.

Desired Experience
+ Qualifications

Previous experience working with young people with additional needs.
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional awareness.
Resilience and patience when supporting diverse learning needs.
Commitment to inclusive education and continuous improvement.

About the School

This Birmingham secondary school, rated Good by Ofsted, is recognised for its outstanding pastoral care and innovative inclusion strategy. Staff describe the culture as genuinely collaborative, where everyone works together to make learning accessible to all. The leadership team prioritises wellbeing — for both pupils and staff — and offers continuous development opportunities, including regular SEND workshops and team coaching. Pupils are respectful, curious, and eager to succeed in a supportive environment that values progress over perfection. Classrooms are calm, purposeful spaces where learners are guided, not pressured, and each success is celebrated. It’s the ideal school for someone who believes education should be compassionate as well as challenging.

That’s it! Our process is simple, and our consultants will advise on how to fast track your checks so you can start working ASAP.

Equal Opportunities Employer

Milestone Education is a committed Equal Opportunities Employer and will not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, or sexual orientation.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Our HR and Safeguarding team will be there to support you throughout the process.

But, I don’t want to register with a supply agency, why should I sign up with Milestone?

We get it. Supply agencies can’t always deliver exactly what you’re looking for, but that’s where we’re different…

We’re an education platform service who partner with schools and MATs to support their recruitment, training and wellbeing needs. It’s in our interest to secure you a role you’ll love, in a setting you’ll want to stay in, with a view to progressing your career. If that’s what you want!

Our HR and Safeguarding team consistently go the extra mile to complete your checks as quickly as possible - at no cost to you. To put so much hard work and valuable time into completing these checks and then NOT deliver the opportunities you are looking for…? Well, we’d go out of business pretty quickly!

How much does it cost and how much will I be paid?

Our services to you are completely free.

Costs will only incur if you require a new DBS or OSPC, but don't worry - we can still put you forward for interviews while the applications in process, so you won't miss out on all the exciting opportunities!

All roles are paid in line with Teachers Pay and Conditions, or are matched with each school’s salary guidelines for the role you undertake. We'll always negotiate the best possible pay rates that reflect your hard work, experience and qualifications.
